NOTICING VIRGINIA
Noticing Virginia is an Updike-inspired examination of one woman’s search for security in gritty 1990s Chicago. Her journey is marked by calculated decisions and disastrous outcomes. Devotion is shunned, a heartless sort of practicality is embraced, sexuality is leveraged and everything hopeful is quickly lost.
Thank you to New Light Studios for the creative space and solitude that helped bring this story to life.
Cast: 4 M, 2 F

OAKENRUSH
Oakenrush, an agnostic young man brought home from college to care for his ailing mother, betrays his longtime companion by searching for solace in the arms of another. When finding comfort proves illusive and, at times, agonizing, issues of spirituality and sexuality become the shaky context of an unexamined life.

Run Time: 90 minutes
Acts: Three
DYSPHORIA
Dysphoria, a state of feeling unwell or unhappy, chases through the mildly surreal, often absurd, world of Nick Hoover as he wrestles with deteriorating health, narrated hallucinations and a manic belief that his son, Billy, is in grave danger.
For Nick, time moves forward as Billy begins a week at a Christian summer camp and backwards in flashes of revolution, war and polarizing politics. His faltering logic and frenzied liberalism, symbolic of today’s oft muddled Democratic Party, culminates in his own gripping leap of faith and the proleptic reverberations of the Iranian Revolution of 1979.
Cast: 6 M, 2 F
Run Time: 90 minutes
Acts: Three
